“Madre del Agua” is a place of copious springs, present in the toponymy of almost all the Canary islands, although it can appear written all together or separating the different lexical components of the toponym. There are even two so-called towns: one in the Tenerife municipality of Arico and another in Valleseco in Gran Canaria.
Also, this term in the island of Gran Canaria indicates a large amount of water flowing through a channel (info from El Diccionario Básico de Canarismos). I choose this title to name the collection considering the movement of water in the photos combined with the sense of calmness and tranquility also implicit on them. I wanted to add the two opposite factors to a mix and name the gallery having this idea on my mind. I hope you enjoy the beauty of this side of Gran Canaria with the next images (as much as I do)!
