  Was a late afternoon when I set out, two hours before the sun would dip below the horizon. Without a specific shot in mind, the journey felt freer, driven purely by the joy of exploration and the island’s magnetic pull. I headed to the rugged north coast of Gran Canaria, to the raw, untamed beauty of Arucas, where the land meets the ocean in a dramatic embrace.

  The air was already softening, carrying the salty scent of the sea. As I scouted for a vantage point, the powerful Atlantic waves became the focal point. They surged and crashed against the ancient rocks, a relentless display of nature’s might and grace. The light, as if in a dance with the ocean, began its gentle descent, painting the sky with hues of apricot and lavender.

  This was the moment. I found myself drawn to the inherent voracity and sheer elegance of the sea. Setting up my tripod on the weathered rocks, I began to meticulously blend multiple exposures of the different waves. Each frame captured a unique gesture of the ocean’s power, an ephemeral sculpture of water against stone. My aim was to recreate not just the scene, but the visceral impact of those potent waves, harmonized with the soft, fading light of the sunset.
